Which inn would you recommend in Kurokawa Onsen for staying with my parents?

I would like to travel for one night with my parents in the 70s as a family of three to Kurokawa Onsen in Kumamoto in January. Please teach me your recommended inn, because I went there for a day trip to enjoy visiting several hot springs, but this is the first time to spend a night there. For dinner, quality is more important than quantity for me, and I would love to try local horse sashimi and beef.

You can relax because it is away from the center of spa town

Hot water at any inn in Kurokawa Onsen is bluish and beautiful, especially open-air baths at Kurokawa-so are spacious and pretty. Also because it is a bit away from a spa town, getting there by car is more convenient. The site is big, so I think you can enjoy relaxing time there. The inn overall is in antique and retro style in a good way, and has definite character of a long-established inn. They also offer plans that you can eat horse sashimi in your room. Enjoy your stay.

Recommended inn

We stayed there when we visited Kurokawa Onsen. It was very atmospheric inn with a fireplace near an entrance. It was a historic building, but was cleaned well and we stayed relaxingly and comfortably. We also enjoyed several kinds of bath. We had horse sashimi and beef steak for dinner. The dishes were carefully cooked and delicious. It was a nice memorable inn.

Hidden gem hot spring inn with its water flowing directly from a hot spring source in Kurokawa Onsen

Since they have only two rooms, it is must to make a reservation well in advance. But this is the best hot spring inn to enjoy Kurokawa Onsen as it sources water directly from the hot spring source. You can enjoy open-air baths and indoor baths almost privately as long as time allows.

Heartwarming family-run inn

This is a small family-run inn, but as you request, this is the inn with great food, serving dishes using seasonal local ingredients little by little. Hot spring large public baths and open-air baths have the softest and gentliest water in Kurokawa Onsen, so this is also recommended. I recommend you to reserve Fuji no Ma detached room, which has two rooms (Japanese-style and Western-style rooms) and is very spacious, as well as is equipped with a rock bath.

Cozy hot spring inn with its water flowing directly from a hot spring source

I recommend open-air baths at Yamaai no Yado Hanamizuki, which is relatively reasonable and you can get a hot spring pass that you can enjoy three hot springs outside the inn. You can enjoy open-air baths on the river banks surrounded by nature. Cliff open-air baths at Kurokawa-so are also great. It is more convenient to go around by car.

quiet inn with a beautiful garden

It is an inn with silence, surrounded by nature of Kurokawa river, and you can really relax there. A detached room is spacious and has also an open-air bath. Since it is a barrier free inn so I think the elderly can stay safely. You can enjoy local dishes for meals such as home-growing vegetables, seasonable local edible wild plants, Higo beef and Aso chicken, and they are very tasty. I think quality of meat is pretty good. Open-air baths made of rocks are spacious and very pleasant.
