Good accommodations in Shitamachi (old town) for foreigners

My friends from the USA will come to Japan in the summer. Could you tell me some good accommodations that foreigners can stay safely in Shitamachi in Tokyo?

I recommend this hotel

When I had a visitor from Canada, I recommended Asakusa View hotel. He really liked staying there. He was impressed by great hospitality and beautiful view as there aren’t no high building around. A guest room is bigger so you don’t feel cramped even you are tall and big. I recommend this hotel.

A convenient hotel you can stay safe

There are many hotels if you only look for the bargain price but I recommend this hotel because the staffs at front desk are kind and take good care of guests. I think you can stay there with safe feeling. A room is spacious and facilities are well-maintained. If you tell them in advance that foreigner will come and stay in advance, I’m sure the staffs are going to take care of it.

Close to Asakusa

I often use this hotel when I go out for drink. This hotel is close to the station and has good access to transportation. Sensouji is also nearby and within walking distance. You cannot really walk to the Skytree because it’s too far but you can take a taxi and it costs around 1000yen. I think this hotel is suitable for sightseeing.

A hotel in shitamachi (old town)

There are many accommodations in Tokyo shitamachi but I especially recommend a hotel in famous Asakusa area.
You can view Tokyo Skytree from Asakusa View Hotel.
There is a direct bus from the airport so it’s easy to get there.
This hotel is located near Sensou ji so you’ll have no problems finding places to eat.
I think this hotel is a perfect place for sightseeing in shitamachi, not only for foreigners but also Japanese.

You can view Sansou ji and Skytree!

Asakusa is famous shitamachi (old town) in Tokyo. Although staying at Japanese style hotel, I think foreigners can stay nicely and comfortably if they stay at a hotel. Senso ji is well-known sightseeing spot in Asakusa so you’ll never get lost even though you aren’t familiar with Japan. This area has less high buildings so you can enjoy nice view of Skytree.

Casual and comfortable hospitality!

This budget accommodation is for foreign backpackers from all over the world. The regular staffs know how to deal with foreigners so they can help you even in last minutes. There is a discount for long term stay. You can choose from private room or dormitory room. You can also use computers and WI-FI. I think you can have good time there if you are the kind of person who can enjoy communicating with other travelers.

A hotel for foreigner back packers.

If you ask me about a budget hotel for foreigners to stay safely, I recommend Sakura hotel. This hotel is located in Asakusa, one of the old towns in Tokyo.
There are many travelers from all over the world so you can easily exchange travel information with each other. I think this hotel is a good place to experience and know Japan deeply.

This homely Japanese style hotel is located near Asakusa Kaminari mon where is full of Tokyo shitamachi atmosphere. Asakusa area attracts a lot of foreign travellers so the staffs at this hotel have no problems serving guests from overseas. Foreigners like a big bath there. You can enjoy sightseeing more because you can rent a bicycle.

A hotel next to Kaminari mon

This hotel is located very close to Asakusa station of subways and other lines. Skytree is right in front. You’ll have no problems finding places to eat because there are many types of restaurants around the hotel so you can choose according to your mood. Although this hotel is located in the middle of very famous sightseeing area, it’s very quiet. In addition, a lot of foreigners stay there so the staffs get used to give some information in English.

The king of hotel in Japan

I recommend the best hotel within Tokyo 23ku among the hotel I’ve stayed at. This hotel is perfect in regard to the meals, hospitality, service, interior at a room and so son. I think this hotel isn’t the best hotel within Tokyo 23 ku but in Japan. This hotel isn’t just a brand hotel. I don’t think there is a hotel which is not nice to foreigner travelers as we are living in ‘omotenashi’ era. I think you can stay at pretty much any hotels if you don’t request something very special.

Time travel to Edo era

Are you interested in Japanese history? If so, I recommend this accommodation. You can enjoy experiencing Edo era. The entrance of this accommodation looks like a inn in Edo era. Each room is decorated like a room in Edo with charm. There is a bath and toilet at the room but also you can use a big common bath. The big common bath is made from Hinoki so you can enjoy taking a bath at typical Japanese bath tub.
