I’m going on a hot spring trip with my family. Our destination is Atami but we’d like to stay at a Japanese style hotel with open air bath which can be chartered for personal use so that we, as a family of four, can take a bath together. Please let me know the recommended accommodations in Atami!

I recommend Atami onsen Aji to yu no yado New Tomiyoshi. There are 3 different chartered open-air baths. There are guestrooms with open-air bath with ocean view. This is a perfect and suitable hotel for family trip. They have good reputation of seafood dishes. I think you’ll be satisfied with your stay both physically and mentally.

Magnificent view from chartered open-air bath

There are 3 chartered panorama open-air baths and views are magnificent. Bathtubs are relatively spacious so you can take a bath with whole family members. In addition, garden open-air bath at big common bath is also spacious so you can have a relaxed time. Meals at this hotel are massive but I could eat pretty much all of them because dishes with fresh seafood were very delicious. This hotel is especially great for those who love eating seafood.

A Japanese style hotel with chartered open-air bath in Atami

I recommend Aji to yu no yado New Tomiyoshi in Minamiatami. You can take a bath at garden-like open-air bath and ‘Ten’, ‘Kai’ and ‘Ku’ chartered panorama open-air baths for 24 hours and for free of charge. In addition, there are some guestrooms with open-air bath. Seasonal seafood dishes are very delicious and massive portions. You’ll be satisfied with your stay. I recommend this hotel.

A hotel along the coast

his hotel is located along the coast so you can view the sea from your room. In addition, there are bath to be chartered and hot spring so you can have a relaxed stay. Although this is a long-established hotel, inside of the hotel is clean and I could have a comfortable stay. Meals are buffet style so you can enjoy eating your favourite dishes. I recommend this hotel.

With bath

Dougo Prince Hotel isn’t directly connected to Honkan (main building) in Dougo onsen but there is direct bus service to Dougo onsen Honkan. Why don’t you travel to Ehime instead of Atami? Matsuyama jyo looks like a real castle and it was nice to visit.

In front of the sea

You can walk to this hotel via shopping area from Atami station. This hotel is located near the coast of Atami so you can see the beautiful view. A hot spring is on rooftop and the view from there is also magnificent. Local fresh fishes are served as delicious meals. I recommend this hotel for family trip.

Soaking in a hot spring at chartered open-air bath while viewing the sea.

This accommodation has an open-air bath to be chartered. You can stretch your legs in the bathtub while viewing blue sea of Sagami wan and night landscape. The bathtub is lighted-up and you’ll see mysterious combination of tree and lights. A guestroom is with ocean view and this hotel takes good advantage of Atami’s location. You can stay there with around 10,000yen depending on the date. I think this is a good accommodation.

Both adults and children can have a relaxed time

Although the name of this Japanese style hotel sounds cheep, I recommend this hotel near the centre of Atami. I especially like the annex very much. There is a beautiful garden and it makes you forget about the fact that you’re actually in the town (you don’t even realise there is a supermarket next to this hotel). Dishes are mainly cooked from freshly-caught seafood. I think it is a bit pity that there aren’t many meat dishes. The price might be a bit out of your budget if you stay at annex but I recommend this hotel.
