Please tell me a hot-springs with private bath in Kurokawa onsen, Japan. I'm going to travel with my husband

I am secretly planning to take my wife who loves hot springs to Kurokawa Onsen. However, there are so many nice inns in Kurokawa Onsen and I can't decide which one to choose. My priorities are first delicious food, and second a location close to a spa town. Which inn would be the best? I am considering a budget of about 40,000 yen per person per night.

Inn that totally makes you feel better

An inn consists of 10 detached rooms equipped with private hot springs with its water flowing directly from the source, and the main building. Meals were very tasty, and we were very satisfied. We enjoyed rare sake and cocktails relaxingly at the bar lounge with a great view. The hot spring water of open-air private bath for hire, "Miharashi no Yu" was simply the best. We stayed in maximum comfort with their thoughtful service.

Good food and good hot springs, and besides, in the centre of a hot spring town

When thinking about inns in Kurokawa suitable for a couple, this place popped up in my mind first. You can enjoy one of the best cuisine in Kurokawa in the dining area with an open-plan kitchen. There are open-air baths with Utase-yu (stream of hot water cascading onto your back), indoor baths, and private baths for hire. The size of the baths are a bit small but it is right in the middle of the spa town, so you can also try spacious baths at other inns, or just stroll around the town. It is an small inn, so it is recommended to book a room as soon as you decide to go. (Autumn seems quite busy with many guests.)

Hot springs were really nice

The inn had good atmosphere and was clean, and their hot springs were very good. Although it was small but a well-balanced inn in many ways; it was homey, their food was delicious, and their hot springs were excellent. As for a meal, three kinds of horse sashimi, local specialty in Kumamoto were served, and overall it was rustic and very delicious. It is the inn you want to come back. Definitely recommended.

They have a family bath where you can enjoy great nature

You can enjoy great nature at their large open-air communal bath, but their family bath was also very nice. And it was free! The meal was not upscale Kaiseki course menu, but was lined with delicious homemade dishes, and Higo beef steak was great. There were different types of rooms, and we stayed in a Japanese-style room in the main building. It was very nice inn where we enjoyed spectacular views of the mountains from windows.

Inn for adults

I recommend Waraku. You have to go up the hill from the spa town, but within walking distance, and more than anything, if you go all the way to Kurokawa, I recommend you to experience this inn with a secluded space. The building has 180-year old wooden structure, brought from Kanto region, and rooms are equipped with private open-air baths. The bath in each room is not the kind that is awkward and not really fitted in, just being added during the renovation of the room by trying to get on the wave of the recent trend in en-suite private hot spring bath. But this one has a great view from the room, and can be used anytime during your stay without worrying about time, so you can have a precious time together with your partner. Meals were creative, using fresh ingredients, but each dish was not focuses only on how it looks or elaborate cooking, but also was truly delicious and satisfying with the taste of the quality ingredients. In addition, they were in good variety such as fish and meat, not like a typical edible wild plants only course menu. Large open-air bath has the atmospheric structure with a view of the flowing river on the side, and it is banned to use shampoo and soaps to protect fireflies. Such an attentive inn would satisfy all customers in all aspects.

Inn with calm atmosphere

It is a great inn with tranquil atmosphere, as well as their baths. Unfortunately, there is no open-air bath in the inn, but you can use open-air bath at their affiliated inn. Open-air bath at their affiliated inn also looked really nice. Their creative kaiseki meals were very tasty as well.

Inn with luxurious hot springs for private hire

You can enjoy very beautiful and luxurious private hot-spring baths there. It is a quiet inn with only four rooms. Therefore you should book in advance but there are plenty of private hot-spring baths for hire, so you certainly get one of them. They carefully paid attention to their meals and each one of them was very tasty.

Everything was great!!

We went there by car from Kansai region, and it was worth to go. It was quiet around, and private baths for time hire was free (reservation required). Meals were very delicious, and we were very satisfied. Although not a very large inn, but their service was truly attentive. I remember that terrible yellow sand hit when we were staying, but I was impressed by the fact that the inn's staff washed our car and made it clean. It is one of the inns I want to come back someday.

Enjoy taking a hot spring bath while watching a mountain stream

It’s a hot spring inn that is entirely in Japanese style. An open-air bath is located along a mountain stream, so you can enjoy taking a hot spring bath while watching the waterfall and listening to the sound of nature. Meals based on the vegetables gathered in the surrounding mountains are served in your room. There is a transportation service to Kurokawa Onsen.
