I want to go to Ohara, Kyoto, by myself, to spend relaxing days. Please let me know an accommodation for 3 nights including a big bath, for 10000 yen per night.

I am thinking of going to Kyoto around July. It will be just myself, but I want to stay in a place with a big bath. Do you have any recommendations?

This may be for you.

If you don’t have any preference whether it’s a hotel or an inn, I recommend Apa Hotel. There are many Apa Hotels around in Kyoto. It is reasonable in price and is easy to use. They have a big bathroom. Choose this hotel as a base and stroll around the area freely.

the Kyoto station / cheap / convenient

I recommend that you should stay at a hotel near the Kyoto station with a breakfast. The transport to Ohara can be chosen by yourself. I suggest that you should take a bath in a big bathroom, immediately after checking in. Because the bathroom is still clean after cleaning and it won’t be cleaned on the same day again.

if you stay during the weekdays, this B&B is good

As it is a B&B, you can’t expect the keeping of privacy. During the weekdays, they have vacancies. There are unexpectedly good feedbacks about the bath. The meal is very delicious. The “single stay during the weekdays” plan is under \10,000.

enjoy the Sanzenin and the Jakkoin in Ohara with changing colors.

The home-made miso and Kyoto-pickles are exquisite. The rakuyaki(pottery) at the Ohara workshop and the dyeing with vegetables are recommended to experience. Please book a room at the early stage during the mid of November and the late November, checking the best period of changing colors. If the season is not just there yet in Ohara, I recommend Eikando in Higashiyama. The picture is Eikando last Year. It was taken on the 24th November.

an inn with the Goemon bath-tub. (an iron tub)

This inn is in the scenic zone. The rooms are Japanese styled with the good olden time’s atmosphere. The hot-spring which is one of the enjoyments of a trip is an open-air hot-spring with a Goemon bath-tub. It is a natural hot-spring which hot-spring lovers love. As the hot-water is alkaline, the skin becomes smooth. It is also an unusual radium hot-spring which encourages metabolism. In the surroundings, there are a lot of temples and shrines. What do you think about it as a base?

a 5-minute-walk from the Ohara bus-stop

You can borrow a bicycle for free. They have the plans such as the “home-breeding Japanese chicken sukiyaki”, the “chicken miso-nabe(pot) with home-cultivated vegetables” and the “Tanba-sasayama wild-pig botan-nabe(pot)”. So, even if you stay there for 4 days, there is no problem for your meal. It is a B&B, but you can enjoy the artificial hot-spring in the big bathroom.

It is at the foot of a mountain with a big bathroom.

You could stay in Ohara, but I recommend this hotel in Matsugasaki which is before the mountain path towards Ohara. Kitayama and the Shugakuin area are more convenient for shopping or eating out. Local buses operate from the bus-stop near the hotel to go to Ohara. They have some single-bedded rooms. The charge is \10,000 with a high-class Japanese meal and \6,000 with a breakfast. They have a big bathroom.
